Mixxx → Serato DJ

What Music Library Doctor can and cannot do for this move — said plainly, before you download anything.

Not supported yet

Music Library Doctor cannot read Mixxx libraries yet, so it cannot perform this migration. Mixxx is on the roadmap.

The problem

Moving from Mixxx to Serato DJ normally means an XML round-trip: export from Mixxx, hope Serato DJ parses it correctly, manually rebuild crate folders (%% separator), discover cues didn't translate. Mixxx versions store the database in different locations on Mac, Windows, and Linux — auto-detection has to know all three. And on the destination side: Every write must update both the main DB and each affected .crate atomically, or Serato shows ghost entries.

Where this stands

  1. 1 Music Library Doctor cannot open Mixxx libraries yet (Mixxx mixxxdb), so it cannot read your playlists out of it.
  2. 2 What it can do is the other half, and it is the half that usually goes wrong: once your tracks are in Serato DJ — by Serato DJ's own importer, an XML round-trip, or any other tool — MLD reads Serato DJ natively and repairs what the migration broke.
  3. 3 That is normally a long list: files the new library cannot find, the same recording imported several times, and paths pointing at a drive letter or volume that no longer exists. MLD finds them, fixes them in bulk, and scores the audio so anything fake surfaces before a gig does.
  4. 4 Leave your e-mail below to be told when Mixxx becomes a readable source.

Supported today

Rekordbox · Serato DJ · VirtualDJ (incl. Favorite Folders) on Windows 10+ and macOS (Apple Silicon + Intel). No DJ software? Folder Library mode audits plain music folders too.

Why native integration matters

The reason we say this plainly instead of leaving the page vague: a migration tool that half-works costs more than one that says no. Serato DJ is supported natively — MLD reads and writes it directly, with a timestamped backup before any write — and the repair work on that side is genuinely the part that decides whether a library survives a move. The other half is not built yet, and no amount of page copy changes that.

Tell us Mixxx matters to you

Support gets built for the libraries people actually run. Leave your e-mail and you get one message — the day Mixxx ships. No newsletter, no drip sequence, and you can ask us to delete the address at any time.

Frequently asked questions

Can Music Library Doctor migrate Mixxx to Serato DJ today?

No. Mixxx is not supported yet. Music Library Doctor works with Rekordbox (including encrypted 6+ databases), Serato DJ, VirtualDJ, and plain music folders. Anything outside that list is roadmap, not product.

When will Mixxx be supported?

There is no date. Support gets built for the libraries our users actually run, which is why the waitlist on this page exists — it is the measurement, not a mailing list. One e-mail when it ships, nothing else.

Then what is this page for?

Because the Serato DJ half is real. Whatever route you use to get your tracks across, the arriving library usually needs repair — and that part MLD does today.

What does Music Library Doctor actually do?

It finds tracks your DJ library has lost and repairs the paths in bulk, groups duplicates by how the audio sounds rather than by filename, and scores every file so fake-320 MP3s and fake FLACs surface before a gig. All of it runs locally; nothing is uploaded.

Already on Rekordbox, Serato or VirtualDJ?

Those three are supported natively today, along with plain music folders. Free tier covers scanning and detection; Pro is a one-time lifetime license.

Download Music Library Doctor

It finds Rekordbox, Serato and VirtualDJ on its own, and reads plain music folders when you use none of them. Nothing to configure before the first scan.
